Our trip to Greece worked out โ€“ and we want more

Weโ€™re back in Wrocล‚aw โ€“ our trip wrapped up just a few days ago.

First, the weather on Kos โ€“ almost perfect! Just two windy days, and the rest was pure sunshine without a single cloud.

Starting with an all-inclusive hotel turned out to be a smart idea. Less to carry, less to worry about โ€“ we could simply focus on Olek and the new baby challenges.

We stayed at Atlantica Marmari Beach and it was as we expected. The hotel has three main spots: a calm pool, the busy main pool, and of course the beach. With a little baby, we mostly stayed at the calm pool, and sometimes went to the beach โ€“ Olek loves playing in the sand.

Alice is still on maternity leave, so no work setup needed for her. She could fully focus on Olek โ€“ and on relaxing.

My โ€œofficeโ€ wasnโ€™t perfect, but you canโ€™t expect that in a hotel. Still, I managed to get everything done.

The internet was stable and good enough for calls โ€“ so for remote work, thumbs up. The working space itselfโ€ฆ less so.

I split my work into three blocks:
morning (before breakfast) – most important work – about 3-4h
during the day – when I had enough of the sun
evening – mainly for planning the next day.

The hotel activities were also decent: two tennis courts, two padel courts, and a gym that was pretty well equipped (for hotel standards). On the beach you can find a windsurfing center and even play some volleyball.

Marmari itself is tiny โ€“ a couple of restaurants, some beach bars, and the Supermarket Konstantinos. Thatโ€™s about it outside the hotel.

Iโ€™ve recently returned to running and managed three training sessions during the trip. Tip: start before 8am โ€“ later itโ€™s simply too hot. You can check my runs on Strava (photos included): https://www.strava.com/activities/15644393580.

Kos city

We also visited Kos town one afternoon. Itโ€™s a mix of old ruins, narrow streets, and a lively harbor full of restaurants and shops. Walking around with a stroller wasnโ€™t always easy (hello, uneven pavements ๐Ÿ˜…), but still worth it. We stopped for coffee and ice cream and enjoyed the vibe. It was nice to get a small break from hotel life and see something different.

Summary

So overall โ€“ โ€œenough all-inclusive for now.โ€ The food was fine, but not really our thing. Weโ€™d rather cook ourselves or go out to restaurants for better quality. And since we donโ€™t drink alcohol, the all-inclusive package is even less interesting. Our next trip (very soon!) will be something different โ€“ stay tuned ๐Ÿ˜‰
